I have played both of the 'cars' games based on the movie.
This one is more like an activity center. Quick and easy-to-master mini games are available to play. These mini-games open up quick 'races' where you simply click your mouse at the proper time to change gears and keep picking up speed. You have no other control over any other aspect of the race. There are a few other things to see and do, but the 20$ price tag is really what this is worth. My 7 year old worked through this in just a little over 4 hours. He's played it twice more, so the game does keep him interested. It IS very colorful and has the actual voices from the movie as well. This is about 500 Meg in size. It is good. But, the other 'Cars' game that is actually a game with races and total control of your car is much better. I rated that one a 5 star. It is more like a family-friendly Grand-theft Auto 3. Also similar to Simpsons hit and run.
The kids will love this one, but they didn't really offer enough... Read more

On the box this games states that it is for ages 4+. Unless you have a child that plays video or computer games constantly, ages 6 and up would be more appropriate.

This game consists of 10 activities, each associated with a different car. Completing the activity unlocks the race secret for that partiuclar car. This allows McQueen to beat that car in the race.

The activites are cute, but require less problem solving and more hand-eye coordination. None of the activites are particularly educational, but it is still fun. Unfortunately, the way the game is set up requires the player to complete all 5 levels for each activity in order to get the secret. Many of the level 4's and 5's are too hard for kids this age (unless they play nintendo or xbox all the time) and so you have to help your kids through them. My son, who just turned 6, loves the game, but he needs help with the higher levels on some of the activites as they require quick memorization... Read more

Beware! As someone else mentioned, this is not the Cars game that is available for game consoles. HOWEVER, he/she was incorrect about it not being available for the PC. For some reason, that game (which is previewed on the Cars DVD) which is more of a racing game with additional mini-games, most of which are fun, is ONLY available from Target. I like the movie Cars, and as an adult, have really enjoyed playing the OTHER Cars video game, exclusively available through Target.

But, if what you are looking for is an activity center for kids who like the movie Cars, this is decent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive and Fun, December 20, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Chuzzle (Video Game)
I rarely review items at Amazon, but I am totally addicted to this game. When I first tried it, my impression was that it was a game for maybe a first grader, but keep going and the levels get harder, the moves aren't quite so obvious as you progress, and then there are those darn locked Chuzzles! But it's quite satisfying to see the Chuzzles suddenly explode in seven cascades and your locked Chuzzles are gone.

Then there is the Mind Bender game in which you have to arrange the colors in a certain pattern. This also is more challenging as you progress through the levels.

Plus, this game is really a great excuse for procrastination when you have work to do around the house! Try it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game, December 15, 2008
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Chuzzle (Video Game)
This game is not only challenging and fun, but it is hilarious! The chuzzles have their own personality. If you take too long with your turn, one of the creatures will fall asleep. Sometimes they wear sunglasses. If you get a giant chuzzle and left click about 5x, it will blow up its cheeks and if you keep clicking it will burp really loud. If you left click on the regular chuzzle at least 6 or so times, it will sneeze, and if you continue clicking it will sneeze so hard it blows of all of its hair. If you left click and hold and move the entire row of cuzzles back and forth 5 or 6 times really fast, then release, the eyes of all the chuzzles in the row will roll around and they make funny noises. If you don't know where to move but don't want to lose points on a hint, then just sit there for 30 secs....the one who rolls his eyes is the one you need to move, so watch the board carefully. Sometimes it doesn't want to give you the clue, so it will frown and make a mean noise... Read more

I first played Chuzzle online and immediately found it to be a mindless relaxing game. There are times when I need to be occupied but not concentrating. Somehow this game relieves stress for me.

After Prince of Persia and EndWar, this is the third major Ubisoft retail release to come out protected not by any intrusive yet ineffective DRM scheme but simply by gamers' honor. And, on top of that, it is a very good game.

There hasn't been a similar game released for some time now: simplified arcade-like action with easy controls, breath-taking cinematics and impressive graphics - that will run in full even in mid-range PC systems. My advice: as with any flight combat game, using a joystick will make things so much more enjoyable and intuitive.

If you are more of an authenticity buff (and still have tons of free time to spare) I would advise going with a... Read more

UPDATE
I have to say that I continue to be impressed with this game as I play it more. I may have under appreciated the graphics, I find that the use of the satellite imagery to be a great thing and probably much cheaper than having designers start from scratch in a fictional world like Ace Combat series.

I think the Cape Canaveral map is cool but while playing I was reminded of an Ace Combat 4 map of basically the same thing, the Magellan Straits, Caribbean, Afghanistan, Middle East(Probably Arabia), Central African, and all of the 17 maps are really great. Another thing is that in the first mission, Juarez, Mexico, you support the Ghosts in the earlier GRAW games which is a nice tie in and I'm pretty sure you support the Rainbow Team from Rainbow Six Vegas in the Nevada map. Other noteworthy planes are the YF-23 that lost out to the F-22, the XA-20 Razorback which I've never seen anywhere else, X-29 demostrator, Harrier, EA-6B Prowler, Mig-21, A12 Wing, and other... 3.0 out of 5 stars So-So arcade game., March 24, 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's HAWX (DVD-ROM)
This is a pretty game, lots of action, lots of things to blow up, makes a lot of noise and seems to be a game aimed at kids. It is not in any way a flight sim except that it happens to take place in airplanes. And thats where any similarity to a flight sim ends.

The planes fly like they are on rails, there is no inertia whatsoever. Engines accelerate the planes with vertical climbs not making much difference to speed. You can jerk a high AOA turn and the speed stays pretty much constant. You can go inverted and pull loop a few thousand feet off the ground~ and make it. There is no speed compression, you can turn as sharp as you want at any speed. You can target enemy aircraft and ground targets about 2-3 seconds apart and fire on them from high off angles and speed at close range and still hit.

Not much of a sim, but fun as a game. EZ entry for people with no knowledge of flight sims or desire to learn all the stuff that goes with it. Its a console game... Read more
